Any Tips About Saving Drinking Milk And Reduce Waste If It Gets Spoil

I like milk, but I'm the only one drinking it so it often goes bad before I use it all. I buy a half gallon at a time to reduce the waste, but even that doesn't always work. If I buy smaller containers, the price by volume goes up and I'm buying more frequently but it doesn't spoil.
Anyone else in a similar situation have any tips?

  • I remember that my grandmother froze milk all the time.
We never knew until we were grown.
Yep, I freeze milk all the time. Have not noticed a watered down taste at all.
And it works like a charm!

  • Milk can be frozen. Buy a gallon and portion it and freeze until ready to use.
Also, If you have a dollar tree near you they sell shelf stable milk in a quart size.

    The taste is OK.

  • I purchase by the gallon and freeze in pint and quart jars. However, other relatives of mine say to me that I should freeze the milk container in ice cube trays and pop out into a freezer zip lock bag. Take out what you need when you need it.

I done it in a different way before.
Batter and deep-fry then portion and feeeze.

May next door neighbor said that she put them in a brown paper bag and they will dehydrate, and that way she was very satisfied because she conserved all her mushrooms for a long time..

    • We only use lactose free and it last way longer.
You could freeze in a few small containers and take out as needed, or buy ultra pasteurized milk. The date is usually 6 weeks out.

I keep my milk against the back of the refrigerator and have sometimes kept it fresh for as many as 10 days after the date in the carton.
However, most of my friends prefer to Freeze it in a smaller size. As long as you thaw it completely in the fridge, and then shake well its good.

I buy unit (long life) milk in litre cartons, in 6 packs. Lasts much longer. I have family and friends who freeze milk, it works fine and you can can pre-portion it prior to freezing. Alternatively powdered milk may be an option, you can mix however much you need at a go. It is kind of cheap and nice way to save both, the carton with milk always fresh and some money on the deal too.

        • I usually keep and reuse well washed old plastic milk jugs filling them 3/4 full.
Depending on the size, it may take a while to thaw. A gallon for me thaws in 3 days.

I don't use much milk, I can't use even a half gallon before it goes bad. I freeze about half of it at a time, but I do it in non breakable 2 cup containers.
I think that way, I don’t go through that pressure to use it up quickly like before. Usually that’s just right for cooking

          • I made sugar free banana pudding and used 6 cups of milk to avoid it going bad! Great tip.
Also, I make ice cream with my left over milk. I purchased shelf stable powdered heavy cream that I mix a little in the night before then I use the mixture as you would heavy cream in my ice-cream recipe. I can also use any left over fruit I might have.
I Buy Ultra Filtered Milk To Make Sugar Free Banana Pudding
Four bottles of ultra filtered great milk. The reduced fat in a dark blue bottle, the whole ultra filtered milk in a red bottle, the fat free ultra filtered milk on a light blue bottle, and the chocolate reduced fat on a dark brown bottle.

          • Have you tried milk alternatives? Lasts longer. Oat milk has been my favorite, and you can get smaller cartons of it

          • There’s a milk brand called Fairlife. Has a long shelf life. Lasts a little longer after opening. You could also buy powdered and make it up as needed.

          • I would just stop drinking milk & transition to tea or something else if you get tired of water. Milk can produce a lot of stomach gases to me and I can't stand that (I guess i'm lactose intolerant).
