So you think no one eats their pets? Well let me tell you a story of my pet rabbit. I won a rabbit at the fair and my boyfriend had a rabbit cage so I left it over there and would feed it after school. Few weeks later he tells me my rabbit “done died” (an Aerosmith reference). A few months later his mom offers me some stew/soup, I was skinny and a very very picky eater, always claimed I was on a diet because I didn’t like a lot of foods (I’ve gotten over that). Anyway I accepted a bowl of soup. I was chowing down as she watched me and she asked if I liked it, I nodded and said yes it was very good then she told me it was rabbit stew. I’m sure the look on my face was enjoyable for her as I had expressed many times I wasn’t interested in eating rabbit, squirrel etc..but I’d eat a hot dog like a champ. It wasn’t until much later did I reflect and realize those M-Fers killed and froze my pet rabbit for dinner at a later date. So yes, pets can and will be eaten. This is a true story.
