Watching the DVD release of Lucille Ball's final series, from 1986. A sweet gift from my sister for Christmas, this was the last time Lucy ever worked on television, and the last time she worked with Gale Gordon, who had turned down the role of Fred Mertz on "I Love Lucy" but later played Lucy's boss on "The Lucy Show" and "Here's Lucy". Thirteen episodes were filmed, but only eight of them aired because unfortunately 1980's audiences wanted edgy comedy filled with suggestive innuendos instead of the 1950's-style clean comedy that Lucy and her team of writers felt made a successful show. The show was pulled from the air after the eight episodes, but the whole series is on this box set, and I'm happy to have it because I am a major Lucille Ball lover!
