I don't know why the ppl in my family are so stubborn. Because of the stubbornness they are staying and riding out Hurricane Milton. Not right in the path but close enough to be greatly concerned! I'm a bit hurt . My ex recently wanted to reconnect as friends and after setting certain boundaries, we have been getting on well. After 2 and a half years together we obviously still had chemistry and were getting on and the topic of what even happened to cause the end of it came up. One moment that came up was we were at a gig of a band she wanted to see and all her friends that I hadn't yet met were there and we met up for pre drinks for about 4 hours before the show, bearing in mind I don't drink and everyone was very rowdy so I sat quietly not knowing what to say. Then for the show we were right at the front at the barrier and I felt very claustrophobic and my senses went into meltdown but I held it together. After the show they all wanted to stay out then go clubbing but by that point I had absolutely no social battery left, not a chance I could mask any longer and they started smoking which makes me struggle to breathe and panic. I took myself to one side and instead of having a loud meltdown, I had a quiet one just to recharge a bit. Things were tense on the way home and we broke up a week later. I only found out tonight that the while time they all thought I was weird and was being rude and dismissive and when asked what was wrong, she admitted to telling everyone I was just having a tantrum. I feel betrayed, after two and a half years she should have empathised a bit more. To cut a long story short, they wanted a normal night out and I couldn't handle it and was therefore ridiculed. I don't know if it's an overreaction to cut her off again as this happened 6 months ago but I feel betrayed more than anything and it hurts that the person I trusted more than anyone didn't have my back to look popular and funny in front of their friends. Sorry for the essay, you don't have to read it but just needed somewhere to vent.

I have been my mom's "confidential" since I was a kid, almost like her "little mom". Yesterday she showed me a side of hers that made me speechless. There's a woman who is my mom's friend and I grew up playing with her younger daughter since we were close in age. She always treated me very well and like I was part of the family. I crossed paths with her a couple days ago and she vented that since her husband died 2 years ago her daughters abandoned her and treat her very poorly. I told my mom yesterday what she had told and that we should pay a visit her someday since she looks like she really needs some company and a shoulder to cry on. Here's the reaction of my mom:" since her daughters abandoned her and she's getting sick and old we should visit her and offer to take care of her in exchange for her house when she dies and you are going to help me". I could not believe what my ears were listening. Her first reaction to her friend struggling with family issues is to want to take advantage of her when she's in a very vulnerable state??? I told her we shouldn't do that because it wasn't right, one thing would be to take care of a sick and old family member and them leaving the house to us but this is too much. Then she kept saying how her daughters clearly don't deserve the house, they probably wouldn't want to take care of their old and sick mother since they don't even visit her anymore. I really don't want to do this, it just feels so wrong, I don't want to take advantage of someone who was always super kind to me. She said it was fine since it was pretty common in our country for people to take care of someone outside of their family in exchange for their house. But it just doesn't sit right with me. I wonder if this is common in other countries and if people are generally ok with it. I don't want to be part of this but when my mom really wants something it's hard to change her mind. I don't know how to change her mind about it.
