My mom would always force me to attend family gatherings / parties when I was a kid even after me saying "no" multiple times. Then she would get mad because I looked unhappy. She would proceeds to attack me the entire time by gaslighting me. "You're such a weirdo, you're unfriendly, no wonder you have few friends. Even as an adult now, she just told me recently, I'm surprised you even have a boyfriend with that attitude. You don't like anything most people do, why do you have to be this way?" and other similar things.
The thing is: For years I've told her I don't like get-togethers at all unless it is an occasional small child's birthday. The adult parties are usually always the same everytime: very loud lame music and drinking. It's boring to me, unless I'm at a theme park and there's things to see and do, I'm not interested.
